dsCustodyHealth aims to develop a platform that ensures the traceability, integrity, and custody of health data shared in data spaces. The solution will make it possible to track the origin of the information, the transformations performed on it, and its use throughout its entire lifecycle, providing verifiable evidence of its quality and reliability.
The project aims to address one of the main challenges in digital health: sharing sensitive information among hospitals, research centers, companies, and government agencies in a secure, transparent, and verifiable manner. To this end, the project is working to comply with the ISO 22095 standard on chains of custody and with the requirements of European regulations, particularly those related to the use of data in high-risk artificial intelligence systems.
Sharing health data with confidence means being able to verify its origin, integrity, and use at all times.
The solution will consist of an open platform with APIs, multilingual libraries, and plugins for IDSA connectors, which will enable users to verify data integrity and record information in GAIA-X-compatible federated catalogs. It will also incorporate auditing and reporting mechanisms to facilitate certifications and demonstrate regulatory compliance.
The platform will use blockchain technology to ensure the immutability of evidence and the use of verifiable credentials. Its modular and scalable architecture will be based on microservices and will enable interoperability among European data spaces, while maintaining encryption and information security.
The solution will be validated in collaboration with the Fundació TIC Salut Social at the Comprehensive Health and Social Data Hub (EDAISS).
This validation will make it possible to verify how data providers and consumers can generate, access, and verify the chain of custody for health and social information, thereby reinforcing accountability among participants and facilitating the legitimate, secure, and reliable use of highly sensitive data.
