BCN_DATA_HUB is a project—based on our dsRights technology—that creates a personal data space focused on sustainable urban mobility in the city of Barcelona. It was created to address key challenges facing European cities, such as traffic congestion, pollution, heavy reliance on private vehicles, and the need to move toward a climate-neutral, resilient, and inclusive urban model.
What sets this project apart is that it places citizens at the center of data governance. Through a model aligned with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), citizens retain full control over their personal data, with the ability to grant, modify, or revoke their consent on a granular basis for each specific use. In this way, they cease to be mere passive providers of information and become sovereign actors who decide what data to share, with which entities, and for what purpose.
Thanks to this approach based on explicit and traceable consent, BCN_DATA_HUB helps overcome the current fragmentation of mobility data and enables a secure, auditable, and trustworthy data space. This data space facilitates the creation of new personalized and sustainable digital services, improves decision-making by citizens and public administrations, and lays the groundwork for the development of advanced solutions based on artificial intelligence, while always respecting citizens’ wishes and rights.
