Cybersecurity in strategic sectors was the central theme of the technology conference organized by SIRT and AMETIC in Madrid, as part of the CyberHubs – European Network of Cybersecurity Skills Hubs. The event brought together professionals, companies, and institutions from the digital ecosystem to address some of the key challenges shaping the current evolution of digital security.
Held at the Club Financiero Génova, the event established itself as a forum for dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among organizations committed to a more strategic, cross-functional approach to cybersecurity that is prepared to respond to an increasingly complex environment. In addition, the event was supported by Check Point as a strategic partner.
Cybersecurity: A Strategic Element for Business
The session began with an institutional welcome address by Celestino García Romero on behalf of AMETIC; David Garriga Carrera, CEO of SIRT; and Jesús Feliz Fernández of INCIBE. During the opening remarks, the speakers agreed on the need to address cybersecurity as a strategic and cross-cutting element in any sector.
In this context, David Garriga emphasized the importance of having roles such as CISOs and CIOs as part of an organization’s senior leadership. Only then, he noted, can cybersecurity establish itself as a true driver of business—rather than merely an operational function.

Cybersecurity in Strategic Sectors: Challenges, Governance, and Cooperation
This was followed by a roundtable discussion moderated by Javier Zubieta of AMETIC, with representatives from SIRT, Santander Spain, Aon, the Renault Group, and INCIBE participating.
During the discussion, participants shared experiences, ongoing projects, and real-world examples related to the main challenges of the current environment. On the one hand, they analyzed the increasing sophistication of threats. On the other hand, they focused on the need to strengthen governance, resilience, and cross-sector cooperation.
Participants also offered practical insights into how organizations are adapting their security strategies in the face of an increasingly interconnected ecosystem: This project is part of SIRT’s commitment to strengthening cybersecurity in strategic sectors, where the company is already involved in high-impact initiatives.
In this context, David Garriga also presented the success story developed in collaboration with Check Point, which involved the renewal of the firewall infrastructure and the upgrade of several clusters for the Bank of Spain. These types of projects in critical environments reinforce SIRT’s expertise in integrating advanced solutions and managing mission-critical infrastructures to the highest security standards.

The supply chain: one of the major challenges facing security today
One of the topics that dominated the conversation was supply chain security, which has now become one of the main sources of risk. In this regard, David Garriga emphasized that third-party risk management must be seamlessly integrated into any modern cybersecurity strategy.
He also noted that protecting an organization's digital ecosystem requires a broad perspective that combines prevention, monitoring, and the ability to respond to threats that no longer affect only the traditional perimeter.

SIRT's SOCME Agency for SMEs
During his presentation, David Garriga also introduced the new SOCME SIRT agent-based solution for SMEs, a solution designed to bring advanced detection, analysis, and response capabilities to companies that need robust, automated, and accessible protection.
In this way, SIRT continues to promote innovative initiatives that make cybersecurity more accessible and help organizations strengthen their digital resilience with solutions tailored to their actual needs.
An event to foster knowledge and build new connections
The event concluded with a networking session that allowed attendees to continue sharing experiences, forge new partnerships, and discuss the sector’s next steps.
For SIRT, co-organizing this type of initiative with AMETIC represents an opportunity to continue fostering dialogue between business, technology, and cybersecurity. It also reinforces its commitment to building a digital ecosystem that is more secure, collaborative, and prepared for today’s challenges.
On behalf of SIRT, we would like to thank AMETIC, INCIBE, Check Point, and all the speakers and attendees for their participation in such an enriching event.
