SIRT held the Baleares Tech & Cyber Summit in Palma, a technology conference focused on the current challenges of cybersecurity, digital sovereignty, innovation, and digital transformation. The event brought together institutional representatives, industry experts, digital transformation leaders, and technology leaders to share knowledge and create new opportunities for collaboration.

The event was organized in collaboration with the Government of the Balearic Islands, the City of Palma and the Mallorca Island Council, as well as with sponsorship from CrowdStrike, Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, Radware, Splunk ( Cisco), and Teldat.

A collaborative space for the Balearic digital ecosystem

The institutional opening ceremony was attended by Xisco Cànovas, Director General of Digital Strategy and Technological Development for the Government of the Balearic Islands; Miguel Busquets, Councilor for Innovation and the Digital District for the City of Palma; Rafael Ángel Bosch, Executive Councilor for Finance, Innovation, and Public Service for the Council of Mallorca; and David Garriga, President and Co-founder of SIRT.

During the inauguration, David Garriga emphasized the importance of fostering collaboration among government agencies, businesses, and society to build safer, more innovative, and more resilient digital environments.

Cybersecurity, Government Agencies, and Critical Infrastructure

Throughout the day, participants addressed some of the main challenges organizations face in the area of digital security. The first panel discussion focused on cybersecurity as a strategic challenge, particularly from an institutional perspective.

The participants agreed on the need to strengthen cooperation among public agencies, promote specialized training, and make progress in protecting critical infrastructure and essential services.

In addition, the conference included a specific session on digital municipal security, moderated by Josep-Ramon Ferrer, Director of New Business Development and Innovation at SIRT. During this panel discussion, participants analyzed the risks faced by local governments in ensuring the continuity of public services, protecting citizen information, and responding to potential cyberattacks.

This approach ties directly into key solutions such as the 24/7 SOC and CSIRT, which are designed to strengthen detection, response, and operational continuity in the event of security incidents.

Innovation, Talent, and Artificial Intelligence

The Baleares Tech & Cyber Summit also highlighted the role of innovation and technological talent as drivers of economic and social transformation. Xavier Martí, Head of Intellectual Property & Business Development at SIRT, participated in this session alongside representatives from academia, the business sector, and institutions.

During the discussion, participants highlighted the importance of strengthening collaboration among universities, businesses, and government. They also emphasized the need to develop specialized talent in order to build innovation ecosystems capable of generating value for the region.

The final panel discussion addressed the impact of artificial intelligence on cybersecurity, featuring representatives from CrowdStrike, Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, Radware, Splunk (Cisco), and Teldat. Moderated by Vicente Caimari, SIRT’s Key Account Manager for the Balearic Islands, the session examined how AI is transforming both defensive capabilities and emerging threats.

Likewise, the need for IT infrastructures that is secure, scalable, and prepared to meet the new challenges of the digital environment.
